2011 RoboCup Junior in Istanbul Turkey

This event was held from July 4th to July 10th 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. There were four main RoboCup Junior activities, Soccer, Dance, Rescue and CoSpace. Participants were divided into Primary and Secondary School age groups. The schedule for all events can be seen on this web page.

Two Tasmanian RoboCup Junior Teams Gain World Firsts

If I can be provincial,  the success of two Tasmanian teams was especially pleasing.

"RoboSquad United Antipodes" was named in a shared Secondary Dance first place along with "Cluck" from Singapore and "Pinkies" from Slovakia. They also combined with "Wildlife Explorers" from Singapore, and "Bogatech Dance" from Spain as team "Fluffy CoCo" , which was listed as one of the three SuperTeam first places along with "Prisoners" and "Smile".

"Thylacine 3" was named the "Best Novice Team" in the Primary Dance results, and then it combined with "Biodiversidade em perigo" of Portugal and "FLY" of China to form the SuperTeam "Celebration" which was listed as one of the three World Champion Primary Dance SuperTeams along with "Magic World of Animals" and "Wan Ger Can".

It was also good to see an Australian team, "Sparticles Particles", named as "Best Entertainment Value" in the Primary Dance results.
