Where is my Alien?
Since most Schools don't come with a ready supply of Aliens, we will have to use a pretend Alien.
Crafts project? Some teachers I have assisted have made producing an Alien a class crafts project - with some very imaginative results! The only downside of this is that a few students have not been pleased when their very carefully constructed Alien is run over by someone else's robot...
Quick Alien. A sample quickly-made "Alien" used by some classes is shown below.
This is made from two images stuck to plastic cups with sticky tape. You can see the images here. The upper and lower cups are not stuck together. One "advantage" of this arrangement is that the cups fall apart quite spectacularly if hit by a robot...
The arrangement of the Robot Ambassador before starting towards the Alien is shown above. You can use tape on the classroom floor for the Alien Arena, or a more elaborate set-up like the one above could be used; construction details here.
